Katie & Kevin Tie The Knot {Sweet Romance}

Posted in Weddings at 12:22 am by favormeevents

After a bit of a hiatus from blogging, I am back and ready to share some shots {more to come- I just couldn’t wait to post a few} from Katie and Kevin’s May 15th wedding at The Palmer Building in Charlotte.

Seriously, how adorable is this couple??

Katie wanted simple, yet playful florals…

After the ceremony, guests were invited to a refreshing Coca Cola {did I mention it was a super H.O.T day? The iconic drink was very much appreciated!}

Katie and Kevin chose The Palmer Building for their wedding because it was the same location where Katie’s grandfather proposed to Katie’s grandmother in 1945. A framed photo of Katie’s grandparents was at the reception, so of course it was only right to recreate the 65-year-old photo {cue chills}…

And of course, the get-a-way!

Ceremony & Reception Site {The Palmer Building}
Photography {Love The Schultzes}
Florist {Nectar Floral Designs}
Makeup {Who’s the Fairest}

Bridal Attire and Bridesmaid Dresses {JMajors}

Katie and Kevin, congratulations and much love to you both!

Plum Perfect.

Posted in Inspiration Boards at 2:54 pm by favormeevents

The summer hasn’t even begun, and my mind is already thinking Fall. Not only is Autumn my favorite season, but this October is Angell and Allen’s wedding at The Duke Mansion!

It didn’t take long for Angell and Allen to decide that the Duke was thee place for both their ceremony and reception.  While they love the sophisticated setting, it was the intimate feeling that really sold them.

Allen, a physics teacher, spends his summers in Alaska driving tour buses and Angell, a healthcare professional, both share a love for the outdoors {Angell’s love for purple is sort of one-sided}.

Bringing the perfect balance of nature and glamour to the Duke is the name of the game for this wedding.  Large twigs, driftwood and moss will be paired with more traditional wedding-related flowers {calla lilies, roses and lily of the valley} with a multitude of candles.

The couple has a small wedding party {one attendant each} and is very deliberate in their decisions. Looking for meaning and symbolism in almost every detail, Angell has opted for not only a lengthy aisle, but to walk it alone {with Allen meeting her half way}.

While I am not wishing the summer away, I am pretty excited to plan Angell and Allen’s wedding  as well as the opportunity to be a part of The Duke Mansion’s first wedding season!

The Biltmore.

Posted in Venues at 3:45 pm by favormeevents

The following is nothing more than a shameless promotion for the Biltmore Estate {there, you have been formally warned!}

As I had mentioned in my last post, the Estate rests on 8,000 acres of land and  is located in Asheville, North Carolina. The Biltmore boasts a garden, vineyard & winery, multiple restaurants, shops and the Inn at Biltmore. While the Biltmore home is open only for tours and not private events, the Inn at Biltmore is able to take on such gatherings.

The Inn is rested on the Biltmore Estate and offers breath-taking  outdoor photo-ops, but the pièce de résistance are the outdoor photo-ops at the Biltmore home.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the Biltmore Estate and the surrounding grounds {did I mention that this place is gorgeous?!?}

So Much To Say.

Posted in Seen & Heard, Venues at 5:06 pm by favormeevents

In the words of Dave Matthews, this past week has given me “So much to say.”  And now that I have undeniably put that song in your head, please allow me to explain.

Last Tuesday, Melissa Lamkin {my friend, as well as fabulous local stylist and Charlotte Wedding blogger} met up with me and my October bride, Angell at J. Majors in search of the perfect wedding dress. Angell and her groom Allen are set to wed this Fall at the Duke Mansion {but more about them later!}

J. Majors Bridal Boutique is located in Dilworth and offers bridal as well as bridesmaid dresses and accessories. Owner, CJ does a great job of keeping an intimate feeling throughout the space.  Amy Kuschel, Watters Brides, Priscilla of Boston, Nicole Miller and Palazzo are just a few of the labels offered as a part of the J. Majors’ collection.

On Thursday evening, I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening party for E.G. Couture-yet another bridal boutique brain-child by CJ.

E.G. Couture is located in Matthews and while it has been open to the public since late 2009- the local wedding industry celebrated its grand opening this past week. E.G. offers designer and consignment bridal gowns from such labels as Melissa Sweet, Vera Wang, San Patrick and Anne Barge…just to name a few.

Carolyn Shepard Design Group supplied all floral arrangements for the event and The  Blushing Bakeshop supplied the amazing mini cupcakes.  Andrea Cunningham from Cunningham Photo Artists documented the evening.

Here are a few photos from the E.G. Couture Event. All photos were taken by Cunningham Photo Artists.

To wrap up a busy week {see, I told you there was so much to say} my husband, his parents and I took a trip to Asheville to check out the 8,000 acre Biltmore Estate. All I can say is, it was

While weddings and other social events are not permitted to take place at the Biltmore House- the Inn at Biltmore does offer wedding packages and does that place know how to throw a party!

Just a few minutes down the road from the Inn is the Biltmore Estate  & Gardens where wedding photos were meant to be taken.  With that being said, my Biltmore photos deserve their own post {so stay tuned!}

Grace on Brevard {Knot Event}

Posted in Venues at 8:07 pm by favormeevents

Last night I had the privilege of joining many other local wedding vendors at Grace on Brevard for The Knot Networking event. It was great to see old familiar faces as well as meet new vendors in the industry.

An untraditional venue with lots of history, Grace on Brevard was originally a church built in 1902. In 2008 the Uptown church was given a new lease on life as a wedding and event space.

The catering was provided by A Tasteful Solution and the cake {oh, and it was soooo good} was provided by The Blushing Bakeshop.  All florals were designed by BobbyMarks Design and the lighting {which really made the room pop} was provided by JAB Productions.  The event was impeccably coordinated by  The Charmed Event- based out of Davidson, North Carolina.

Of course, no networking event would be complete without a few photo ops in the photo booth provided by ShutterBooth.  And no, it is not a coincidence that I have no documentation from this!

Here are a few photos from the event.

Bridal Bling.

You have gone to J.Crew, Nordstrom and even peeked into Tiffany’s and still can’t seem to find the earrings, necklace or bracelet to tie together the ensemble for the {fill in the blank of your wedding-related event here}.

You have a “vision” in your mind of what you want, but either it doesn’t seem to exist on store shelves, or it is just way out your price range.

Well, did you know that FavorMeEvents also offers the service of custom-designed and handmade jewelry?  It’s true! {And you thought we just did events…}

Here is a sneak peek of some pieces from our 2010 Bridal Bling Collection.

PS. Looking for matching bridesmaid’s jewelry sets- we do that too!

Sweet Romance.

Posted in Inspiration Boards at 2:35 am by favormeevents

What a gorgeous day it was to be outside and soaking up some much-needed Vitamin D {even if it was just doing yard work with the hubby}.

The sun on my back had me excited for more warm weather to come, as well my first Spring wedding of the season with Charlotte couple-Katie and Kevin!

Incorporating her sweet & cheery personality into the ceremony and reception {both to be held at the Palmer Building}, Katie has chosen to use pink gerbera daisies as her floral focus.

Keeping with the pink & sweet theme, Katie is also offering plenty of treats for her guests- including cute cupcakes and a pink-themed candy station.

But it’s not all pretty in pink.

To reflect Katie’s romantic side, as well as to give the wedding a proper balance-  an abundance of candles will light the courtyard during her outdoor wedding at sunset.

I know we can’t wait for this May wedding {and the many more sunny days ahead!}

Weekend in Review

Posted in Venues at 2:00 pm by favormeevents

Whew….what a weekend!

On Saturday, I drove up to Ronda, North Carolina {about 90 miles North of Charlotte} to meet my bride, Katie and her mom, Ann at her wedding venue- Raffaldini Winery and Vineyards.

Leaving the house before the crack of dawn, I drove with only the company of Norah Jones {via Ipod, of course} and an intermittent car as the sun rose. It is morning drives like these that are good for the soul.

I was early to the site visit, so I snapped some shots of the winery.

Katie has decided that her ceremony will take place on the lawn, overlooking the vineyards. Her cocktail reception and dancing will take place on the outdoor piazza {with working fountain} and her dinner will be served in the upstairs dining room. She wanted to give her guests an experience of multiple spaces- {and with the weather hopefully in our favor}- we plan to do just that.

On Sunday, I met with the talented Melissa Lamkin {a local stylist and writer of the Bride + Groom blog for Charlotte Wedding}. Melissa had invited me to join her to the Charlotte Wedding Connection event held at the Levine Museum of the New South in Uptown.

With approximately 40 vendors, the event was great. Melissa and I both took the opportunity to meet with new vendors, as well as sample the copious amounts of chocolate, cake and more chocolate.

While I wanted to stay at the event a little longer, I was excited to meet with my bride Katie {different Katie from Saturday- popular name!} and her mom, Amy to discuss her May wedding at The Palmer Building.  There will be more to come on this, as an inspiration board is in the works…so stay tuned!

All in all, it was a great weekend, with lots of great people, places and of course, chocolate!!
